Bio/Admin History:The Allens of Boston, Massachusetts were personal friends of Col. Philip Moore of Banff. Ruth Allen, 1885-1988, and her brother, Herbert S. Allen, made several early trips in the Canadian Rockies with the Brewsters and Phil Moore. Her diverse interests included art, gardening, photography, travel and horsemanship.
Scope/Content:Fonds pertains to Ruth Allen's pack trips to region of Spray Valley, Kootenay Valley, White River Valley and Cross River Valley in 1904; and to region of Spray Valley, Mount Assiniboine, Simpson Pass, Kootenay Valley and Ice River Valley in 1905. Content includes landscape, hunting, camps, horses, Ruth and Herbert Allen, Phil Moore, and other trip participants. Views are selection from total of 315 negatives from these two trips. Accompanied by identifications by Ruth Allen, supplemented by J. Gordon and Barbara Allen Upton.
